Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt ready to share openly about his profound loss.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can at last put my grief into words," posted Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner left him smitten. "Once we started spending more time together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the film, commenting that he could not remember "any day without mirth".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob valued immensely. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He finished with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Colleague and Comrade
In a different tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the main character.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with his co-stars, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese wrote.

This week, a Los Angeles judge ruled to prevent the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A legal directive placed a embargo on the cases to limit the public release of "related notes, documents, files or images" pertaining to the probe.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a record citing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
