The top legal official in Texas Ken Paxton is suing the manufacturers of acetaminophen, alleging the firms concealed alleged dangers that the medication created to pediatric neurological development.

The lawsuit follows a month after President Donald Trump advocated an unsubstantiated connection between consuming acetaminophen - also known as acetaminophen - while pregnant and autism in young ones.

The attorney general is taking legal action against Johnson & Johnson, which once produced the drug, the sole analgesic recommended for pregnant women, and the current manufacturer, which currently produces it.

In a official comment, he said they "deceived the public by gaining financially from discomfort and marketing drugs ignoring the potential hazards."

Kenvue says there is lacking scientific proof connecting Tylenol to autism.

"These corporations deceived for years, knowingly endangering millions to boost earnings," Paxton, from the Republican party, stated.

The company stated officially that it was "very worried by the perpetuation of misinformation on the security of acetaminophen and the likely effects that could have on the health of US mothers and children."

On its website, the company also stated it had "regularly reviewed the relevant science and there is no credible data that indicates a proven link between taking acetaminophen and autism spectrum disorder."

Organizations representing medical professionals and health professionals agree.

ACOG has said paracetamol - the main ingredient in acetaminophen - is a restricted selection for pregnant women to address pain and elevated temperature, which can pose major wellness concerns if left untreated.

"In over twenty years of studies on the utilization of acetaminophen in gestation, zero credible investigations has successfully concluded that the usage of acetaminophen in any stage of gestation leads to brain development issues in children," the association said.

This legal action mentions current declarations from the previous government in asserting the drug is allegedly unsafe.

In recent weeks, the former president caused concern from public health officials when he instructed women during pregnancy to "fight like hell" not to use Tylenol when unwell.

The US Food and Drug Administration then issued a notice that physicians should contemplate reducing the usage of Tylenol, while also mentioning that "a proven link" between the drug and autism spectrum disorder in children has not been established.

The Health Department head Robert F Kennedy Jr, who oversees the Food and Drug Administration, had pledged in April to conduct "a massive testing and research effort" that would determine the origin of autism in a limited time.

But authorities cautioned that identifying a sole reason of autism spectrum disorder - believed by scientists to be the result of a complex mix of inherited and surrounding conditions - would be difficult.

Autism spectrum disorder is a type of lifelong neurodivergence and disability that affects how persons perceive and engage with the world, and is recognized using physician assessments.

In his lawsuit, the attorney general - aligned with the former president who is running for the Senate - claims the manufacturer and J&J "deliberately disregarded and attempted to silence the research" around acetaminophen and autism.

The lawsuit attempts to require the firms "eliminate any promotional materials" that asserts acetaminophen is safe for expectant mothers.

This legal action mirrors the grievances of a collection of parents of children with autism spectrum disorder and ADHD who sued the producers of Tylenol in recently.

Judicial authorities rejected the case, stating investigations from the parents' expert witnesses was not conclusive.
