Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Tragic Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday evening. The fighter was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his management team had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.
Honoring the Deceased
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”
The news of his discharge comes as the boxing community offered sympathy for the star in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
